The Arab Knowledge Index focuses on several critical sectors: Education at its Pre-University, Higher and Technical Vocational Levels, Research & Development and Innovation, Economy, and ICT. It employs a total of more than 300 variables across these different sectors.
The Arab Knowledge Index is distinguished by taking into consideration, and for the first time, sectors that are often not well considered in similar attempts, such as the vocational education and training sector, the relation between R&D and Innovation, and the interaction between the different sectors.
The Index methodology was developed in consultation with top-level local, regional and international experts and academics, in addition to regional workshops across the Arab region.
In its upcoming future versions, the Index shall seek further tuning of the methodology, in addition to the employment of wider international efforts and experiences, and cooperation with statistical and surveying centers in the Arab region to provide for unavailable data. The Index shall also seek to expand its coverage and include countries from around the globe, thus becoming an Index of Knowledge, from the Arab region to the entire globe.
